Nippon Health Partners in Japan–Vietnam Seminar on Preventive Healthcare and International Patient Coordination

As interest in preventive healthcare and cross-border medical consultation continues to grow across Southeast Asia, Nippon Health participated as a partner in a Japan–Vietnam seminar focused on the future of preventive medicine and international patient coordination.

The seminar, titled “Technology in Preventive Healthcare and International Patient Coordination – Insights from NTT Medical Center Tokyo and MedArmor Clinic,” brought together Japanese medical experts, Vietnamese healthcare leaders, and senior urban executives who actively prioritize long-term health, preventive lifestyles, and informed medical decision-making.

The event was organized by the Institute of Digital Technology Development and Application (VIDA), with the participation of NTT Medical Center Tokyo, MedArmor, and Nippon Health as a healthcare gateway supporting Vietnamese patients in accessing preventive healthcare services in Japan.

Nippon Health: Bridging Vietnam to Japan’s Preventive Healthcare Ecosystem

At the seminar, Nippon Health highlighted its role as a digital-first, patient-centric healthcare gateway, designed to help individuals and families navigate access to Japan’s preventive healthcare system in a structured and transparent manner.

Through its platform, patients can explore preventive screening and Second Opinion programs, understand care pathways clearly, and prepare for international medical services with greater confidence—supported by Vietnamese-language guidance and responsible coordination.

Sharing the perspective behind Nippon Health’s role, Valerie Van Tran, Partner of Delta West Group, stated:

Nippon Health is a digital-first, patient-centric platform created to simplify access to Japan’s world-class healthcare. Through our platform, patients can explore preventive screening and Second Opinion options, complete bookings securely, and prepare for their medical journey with confidence. Our focus is not just access, but trust—ensuring every step is clear, supported, and responsibly coordinated.

By positioning preventive healthcare as a long-term lifestyle choice rather than a reactive response, Nippon Health aims to help patients approach medical tourism with clarity, preparation, and peace of mind.

NTT Medical Center Tokyo: Clinical Insight and Preventive Leadership

From the clinical perspective, NTT Medical Center Tokyo shared insights into why Japan continues to be recognized globally for strong preventive outcomes and cancer survival rates.

Dr. Ryuichiro Sasae, Director of the International Medical Department, noted a recurring challenge observed in real-world practice:

Regrettably, we often see patients from Southeast Asia arriving at later stages—frequently Stage III or IV—compared to domestic patients in Japan.

According to Dr. Sasae, this reality reflects gaps in early screening habits and fragmented health monitoring, rather than differences in medical capability. Japan’s strength lies in its preventive-first culture, supported by routine, high-precision screening and early intervention.

International data from the CONCORD-3 study (The Lancet) and OECD Health Statistics indicate that Japan records one of the highest five-year survival rates for gastric cancer globally—an outcome widely attributed to early detection through endoscopic screening and access to minimally invasive treatments such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD).

At NTT Medical Center Tokyo, more than 1,000 ESD procedures are performed annually, alongside advanced precision oncology technologies including Gamma Knife radiosurgery and robotic-assisted surgery.

MedArmor: Strengthening Early Preparation in Vietnam

Complementing Japan’s hospital-based expertise, MedArmor shared its role in supporting early screening and preparation at the local level in Vietnam.

MedArmor focuses on helping individuals understand their health status earlier, prioritize appropriate screenings, and organize medical data clearly before international consultation—reducing anxiety and enabling more informed decisions.

As Nguyen Hoai Nam, Chairman of MedArmor Vietnam, emphasized during the seminar, preventive care begins long before international travel, with preparation, clarity, and physician-guided interpretation playing a critical role in effective outcomes.

Looking Ahead

The seminar concluded with discussions on longevity and sustainable health, reinforcing a shared view among participants: preventive healthcare is not a single service, but a long-term mindset supported by culture, data, and trusted coordination.

As healthcare expectations continue to evolve in Vietnam and international mobility increases, partnerships between institutions such as NTT Medical Center Tokyo, local providers like MedArmor, and platforms like Nippon Health are expected to play an increasingly important role in enabling proactive, confident approaches to health management across borders.

Public Relations Coverage

Insights from the seminar and expert perspectives shared by Japanese and Vietnamese specialists have received broad coverage across Vietnam’s leading media outlets, television channels, digital platforms, and healthcare publications, including:

This wide-ranging media presence reflects growing public interest in preventive healthcare, early detection, and structured international patient coordination, particularly as Vietnam’s healthcare landscape continues to shift toward proactive, long-term health management.
